Being a mother is one the most memorable experiences in life. You may be thinking about a maternity shoot as a way to celebrate your pregnancy. Worry no more! We are here to help!
1. The Best Time to Take a Pregnancy Photograph
Although you may think that you must have a visible bump for maternity photos, the truth is that you can choose when and where you feel most comfortable to take your photos.
You don’t have to show off your baby bump alone. There are many other ways to showcase your pregnancy. You can bring photos of your sonogram and any props that you would like to use in the photos, such as baby shoes or newborn clothes. These props can make some adorable maternity photos, especially when taken in close-up.
2. The Best Place for a Maternity Session
A location you love is the best place to have a maternity shoot!
Think of a location that is meaningful to you and your family when thinking about where to take your maternity photos. Are there any parks or beaches that you love to visit? Is there a place where you proposed? Perhaps you have just bought your house and want to photograph it. The right maternity photographer can make any location work and give you tips and advice to ensure you get beautiful maternity portraits.
3. A Home Maternity Photoshoot
Traveling with pregnant women can be exhausting and even unrecommended by their doctor. You don’t have to travel for a babymoon. Instead, you can do a maternity shoot in your home or hometown.
4. What to wear for a Maternity Photography Shoot
After you have decided to do a maternity shoot, the next step is to decide what to wear to your session.
A maternity dress is a gown that can be worn by pregnant women. These dresses may be either floor-length or ankle-length. Maxi dresses are also known as maxi dresses. They tend to be looser fitting and more fluid, which allows for greater movement for both photo opportunities and the comfort of the mom-to-be. Comfort can also be affected by the material of the dress. A chiffon or lace dress are popular choices because they have a formal look but are also breathable.
Some pregnant women prefer a bodycon style instead of a boho-style maxi dress. This style will enhance your baby bump and is more flattering than a tighter style.
We recommend that you stick with solid colors over clothing with lots of patterns. These can interfere with the gorgeous backdrop of your maternity photos, or distract from the main focal point of the photo (you and the growing family).
You can bring more than one outfit to your maternity photos, if you choose to do so. The weather can change quickly during maternity pictures. To be ready for any weather, we recommend bringing an outfit that has long sleeves, short sleeves, and possibly even a sleeveless option.
