The very phrase ‘Design Thinking’ has been in use for decades. This term has evolved to represent a framework approach to creative problem solving with an emphasis on practical options. The Design Thinking definition is based on design thinking to provide creative solutions. It is a very versatile method that can be applied from a start-up to a large corporation. Design Thinking is a process that codifies how a “designer-consultant” would deal with a client’s project, allowing everyone to adopt the same approach. You can design everything from objects to services to business models, including your own career plans. Some of the key features of the process include empathy, collaboration, questioning, creativity, exploration, experimentation and continuous improvement.

What assumptions does Design Thinking make when it works?

    • Firstly, it focuses on creative collaboration – looking at a problem from multiple perspectives, searching for new solutions, going beyond the usual schemes.
    • Such thinking largely involves experimentation and hypothesis testing – building prototypes and frequent collection of feedback from users.
    • The customer and his needs are the key to success – Design Thinking therefore assumes a deep understanding of the conscious and unconscious needs of the consumer.

What are the benefits of the design thinking methodology?

Arguably, we would include a focused understanding of the consumer and a user focus that goes far beyond asking the client what they want their product to do for users. However, the main aim of the method is to create and implement innovative solutions in the form of new products, services, events, processes, educational programmes or business models, among others. In fact, regardless of the industry, Design Thinking supports the development of innovation and guarantees non-standard solutions. A big plus turns out to be the emphasis on practicality – there is nothing hypothetical in Design Thinking methodology. For it to work, it must focus on an authentic, real-world problem, specifically targeting a value-added solution. Reducing the risk of a failed project is an extremely valuable feature of design thinking.Through research, we identify the real problem of the recipient, and by quickly prototyping and testing solutions, we check whether they have a real translation into reality. The structure of the method and its tools force productive work. A prototype of an idea can be created even in a few minutes.
